Team Lead – Mechanical Workshop

TYPE OF JOB: Full-time

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Team Lead supervises workshop technicians and ensures that all repairs to lifting equipment are properly and efficiently performed. He or she is a technical leader who actively participates in the work and ensures that operations are performed efficiently in compliance with safety and quality standards.

The Team Lead plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of the workshop. He or she acts as a technical resource for the team, ensuring that work is appropriately planned and deadlines are met. The Team Lead role combines supervision, technical support, and direct participation in operations in a work environment where safety, organization, and collaboration are essential.

Main responsibilities:

Organizing and overseeing workshop operations

  • Plan, assign and prioritize mechanical tasks among  workshop team members
  • Supervise the repair, maintenance and inspection of lifting equipment (forklifts, aerial work platforms, Skytrak and similar equipment)
  • Assign technicians to jobs based on their expertise and the nature of the work to be performed
  • Participate in complex diagnostics and problem solving for technical issues
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Keep a tidy, clean, and organized workspace

Supervising equipment repairs and maintenance

  • Oversee the repair, maintenance, and inspection of forklifts, aerial work platforms, Skytrak, and other similar equipment as scheduled by the Director of Operations
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, safety requirements, and quality standards
  • Implement proactive measures to prevent accidents

Managing and training team members

  • Train, supervise, and provide technical support to junior mechanics
  • Contribute to the development of team members’ technical skills
  • Prepare and facilitate employee performance reviews on a quarterly basis, excluding salary adjustments and annual salary reviews
  • Actively participate in the hiring process for new team members

Ensuring technical support and continuous improvement

  • Participate in complex diagnostics and problem solving for technical issues
  • Integrate new technologies or working methods to enhance operational efficiency and quality (e.g., artificial intelligence), involving the team in developing solutions

Coordinating services and procurement

  • Communicate with the operations manager about required parts, repair planning, or specific follow-ups
  • Submit parts requirements directly to the purchasing manager

 

Required experience and training:

  • Mechanical skills (lifting equipment, hydraulics, diesel, electrical)
  • Team leadership and sense of responsibility
  • Analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to urgent situations
